A CARD FOR MY DAUGHTER

Good day everyone ....

Its been a busy few weeks , i'm trying to get as much done for Christmas as i can . Last year was my first year in many that i wasnt working , and because of that i thought i had more time to do all that i had to do ..haha not so !! ..I ended up with far too much to do and the few weeks before Christmas was nothing but rushing and a bit of stress thrown in , so not this year if i can help it . I've managed to just about keep on top of things , i'm wrapping presents as i buy them , done the jars of pickled onions ( i've already had to taste them , Mmmm very nice lol ) . First week in December i'll do the pickled eggs and start soaking the fruit for the Christmas Puddings . The only thing i havent done and i must start like SOON is the Christmas cards !! ..I cannot make my mind up what i want to do with them !! . I've laid out most of the Christmas stamps on my work table to try and help me make my mind up ...has it helped ??!!!!!!!! NO lol !! .. Oh well i'm sure it will come to me but sooner rather than later i hope lol !!

Anyway the card i'm adding today is the one i've done for my daughter Rachel's birthday .. Hope you like it .. I stamped the image using a stamp from LILAC LEMON DESIGNS , they do some lovely stamps and they are very reasonable . I coloured the image using cosmic shimmer water colour paints and then picked out parts of the dress with glitter , cut the image out using spellbinders . Added some flowers and ribbon and made a box which i stamped and embossed

MY FLOWER LADY CARD

Hi Everyone ...Hope everyone is fit and well ...

Today i'm adding a card that i made for my sister-in-law , i still call her my sister-in-law even though i have been divorced from her late brother since 1992 , but she's a good friend as well .

Anyway i used a stamp from the NEW Sheena Douglas range . I love her stamps , she designed stamps for Creative Expressions , but now has designed a lovely range under her own name . I love watching her on Create and Craft TV programmes . I have added a link to her blog , from her blog you can find a link to her shop . I have also added a link to Creative Expressions , on their site they have some brilliant ideas and online workshops where you can access and print out their ideas for not only making cards but for making a range of other crafting things . Both Sheena Douglas's and Creative Expressions stamps are brilliant to use and they aren't expensive which is a added bonus !!

Halloween is at the end of this week , and on Saturday evening my daughter is having a Halloween Fancy Dress Party , she's having it on the Saturday as on the Sunday she along with my 2 other daughter's take their children on Trick or Treat and they so look forward to dressing in their costumes and going out . It should be a great night and i'm going as the Angel of the Cemetery . I have a lovely costume , now i just need to find some good ideas for my make-up , they have some great video's on You Tube so i will be checking them out .

Right now for the card ! I used a purple card which i matt and layered onto silver card , with a white card as the base . I stamped and embossed the image and then cut the image out using my spellbinders . I coloured the image in using my Cosmic Shimmer water colour paints again . Added a lilac coloured ribbon some gems and flowers which i used Cosmic Shimmer Glitter glue on the edges . On the bottom part i added a verse and some more flowers and i also stamped out another image from the Sheena Douglas set and coloured it again using my Cosmic Shimmer Watercolour paints . I made a box for the card , the base i kept white and the lid i used a lilac card in the same colour . I stamped and embossed a flower and leaves using one from the Creative Expressions sets that i have and glued it to the box for a bit of extra decoration . Hope you like it ... FALL WHEELBORROW

Hi Everyone ...........

I havent been too good on and off for a couple of weeks now . It's just the pain from my Fibromyalgia , but it doesnt half effect how you feel , not just physical but mentally ! ..Hence i havent been doing to much card-making , but i have managed to finish a card that i have been making for Autumn / Halloween . I used a digi stamp from Karen's Doodles , which is one of her 'freebies' . I coloured in the image using my cosmic shimmer watercolours and then cut it out using a spellbinders die . I used a dark brown card for the base card and layered it using orange then a cream card . The leaves i made using spellbinders dies which i then coloured using distress inks , then added a orange ribbon . Now i've left this one till last ! The image i layered on a background which i made myself with 'Tim Holtz' Ranger Alcohol Inks . I took a sheet of acetate , which i cut in half , onto this i first squeezed some 3D CRYSTAL LACQUER , then took the Alcohol inks ( i used 4 different colours ) and added drops randomly until i covered the area . This doesnt use as much as you think as the drops spread . I also randomly dropped some glitter in places as well , you dont have to do this but the glitter does catch the light and it looks really good . I have also used Mica Powder although i didnt on this one . I then took some white tissue paper and laid it on top and tapped it down gently with a piece of kitchen towel , you need to use something as it does get very messy on your hands if you dont . Then i left it to dry . Once dried i cut out the size i needed . Quite a few photo's for this one . Hope you like it . Well that's it for now ... Take care love and hugs Melita xx

Happy Birthday

Hi Everyone ....

On Saturday 25th Sept . it was my youngest daughters birthday . This is the card that is made for her .


I used white card as the base , then layered a deep red card on it . The patterned paper was from some of my paper stash . I used the new spellbinder's 'nestie's' for my image which i layered on red glitter card cut out using the same nestie . I couloured the image in with 'cosmic shimmer paints' . I tried using watercolour pencils and pens but i just cant seem to get it right using them so i think i will stick with watercolour paints for now . At a later stage i am thinking of giving promarkers and copic pens ago , i do use the promarkers for the skin tones on the images as i do find that they give better results . I have used red brads in each of the corners . The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts . Ruth was thrilled with it and i am pleased with the result . WEDDING CARD

Hi Everyone .. Weather has changed yukkie misty rain ... So busy here at the moment , its my youngest daughter's 30th birthday on Saturday and she is having an 80's fancy dress party party for it . We are having it at home , we rarely go out any longer , too expensive and there is always trouble somewhere . We have a great time at our family get-togethers anyway . I think i will be in a fragile state on Sunday lol !

My neighbours got married at the week-end and i made a wedding card for them which i quite like . The card i used i found in my card stash and i had a lovely wedding stamp i hadn't used yet . I stamped it , then embossed it , i didnt colour it as i wanted to keep it to the gold, cream and black as that was the colours she had choosen for her wedding . I finished it off with flowers from Wild Orchid . Hope you like it ... Just a shortie today . Take care .. love and hugs Melita xx

Hope everyone is good ..Well Christmas is sneaking up on us again and i'm thinking that it is time to start thinking of the cards i want to make . Last year was my 1st year making my Christmas cards and i choose the window box cards ( they are on a earlier post ) that i had seen Sheena Douglas make on the Create and Craft TV channel . I love watching Sheena Douglas , she makes the most brilliant of cards and i find her a big source of inspiration ! She also design's many of the U-Mount stamps which are fanstastic to work with , if you ever need inspiration then watch her on the Create and Craft TV Channel or check out her blog . My other fav ones for inspiration and to watch are Barbara Grey ( Clarity Stamps ) and Sue Wilson ( Creative Expression ) . I have seen some lovely Digi Christmas Stamps and i have just bought another set of U-Mount stamps one of their Christmas Selection , i have about 3-4 other sets already and other sets as well , i love working with these stamps ... The images on my Christmas window box cards are all from the Christmas U-Mount sets ....
Anyhow today i'm adding a birthday card that i made for my sister Terena .... I choose to do a easel card and i used a digi image from Whoopsi Daisy ( there is a shop and also a Whoopsi Daisy Challenge Blog ) i may take the plunge and enter this card on the challenge blog , have never entered a challenge before , 1 cause i didnt think my cards were good enough and 2 i also didnt know how to , but i found a site Crafty Cardmakers that gives some good info on doing it so i'm going to give it a try , they are also a site for new and inexperienced crafter's and also explains some 'how to do' info for your blog , very helpful if your new to all this blog-land stuff !!
Right back to the card . I coloured the image in with my Cosmic Shimmer watercolour
paints and added some Cosmic Shimmer Twinkles , cut it out using my spellbinders and then i went around the edge with some Cosmic Shimmer Acrylic Glue and then dipped it into some glitter , which comes from the Debbie Moore site ( another good site to
go visit , lovely stuff and very reasonable prices ! . ) i then layered this onto some glitter card .
The card itself was made using some lilac card as the base then i layered it with some silver card and the top layer i found a beautiful purple card in my stash with swirls and flourish's which i used . I used some gems in the corner and added some sentiments matting in the same way . For the flowers . I have found some brilliant shops which sells the most beautiful and reasonable priced flowers . To the flowers i added some glitter to give it a bit more of the wow factor , a white spray with some beads . Finished it off with a ribbon .
Now for the finish . I came across a site Sam Cards whilst looking for info on making box's for cards . i bought the download for making box's , i think there are templates for making 3 different sizes . I used the biggest size ( you get all the sizes in the download ) . On one side you have the box markings which i printed out on white card and then i turned the card over and the other side printed out a lovely purple and gold backing paper . The result was this .


Well i hope you like the finished result , my sister was thrilled with it !! Phew i think i need a cup of coffee now after all this lol ....

CARDS MADE BY MY GRAND-DAUGHTER'S

Hi There ..

I had a wonderful afternoon on Tuesday , i spent it with 2 of my grand-children Lauren and Courtney , who are pictured just above . We spent the afternoon making cards , birthday cards for their Mum to be exact . They both are interested in crafting and making cards and i encourage them as much as i can . I was so happy with their results , i helped with the cutting out , but they picked the colours and and items they wanted to use and i feel they have done a brilliant job in matching everything . The image they choose i said they could have a go at water colouring it , they have never done this before . I showed them how i do it and then left them to it . What a fantastic job they did ! .. I am sure their mum , my daughter Ruth is going to be thrilled with them .

Lauren choose to do her card in pink . Courtney choose to do her's in green .


Aren't they just adorable ! I have sorted out and given quite a lot of my crafting stash that i dont need or want . I will get some other stuff that they will need and hopefully this will keep their interest in crafting .... Hi ... I'm late AGAIN !!! story of my life haha ! .... My mum's been poorly and we've had hospital visits with her and then her Dr wanted to come around and see her but she wanted family members there as well .  She had the results of her kidney scans , so we were thinking the worse .  Mum's kidneys are only working at 20% and she also has a mass showing up above her kidneys , Dr's dont know what it is !! It is around her adrenal gland area .  Now she could have a CT scan to see what it is there but they dont really recommened her having that done as it means a dye has to be pumped into her body and they dont think her kidney's would cope with it and as mum has already said that whatever is there she is not having a operation at her age ( she's 87yrs ) they feel it is best left ... so fingers crossed and lots of prayers are being said !! ..

I have also been to the hospital to have x-rays done on both my knee's .  The results didnt show anything but my Dr wants it investigated into more as he said the x-rays dont always show everything up .  So now i'm waiting for another hospital appointment !!  Good job i have a good stash of glue , tape and staples as i'm wondering when my body parts are going to start dropping off lol !...at least i'll be able to glue tape and staple them back on !! ...

Well i know i'm a bad blogger , i should try harder to up-date a new card on here at least once a week .  I honestly do have all good intentions but i dont know ,  something always happens or i'm so tired or in pain from the 'Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS'  that the days seem to go by and then the weeks .. Any ideas guys as to how i overcome this would be gratefully received !! To top it all i am going through the 'change' and boy is it terrible ! ...Hot flushes and sweats ...why do we women have to suffer these things ?? ! ..I cant take HRT as i had a blood clot in my leg last year so after doing some reading i'm trying out 'evening primrose oil and Vit E ' and 'black cohosh '  ...please let it work !

Right down to buisness , i have done a card , it was for my mum's 87th birthday ..I used another 'Digi stamp' , loving these 'digi stamps' so much ... how wonderful to have so many people with this wonderful gift and so many that share their work for other crafters to use !! This time i used a stamp from 'DIGI DOODLE SHOP', there are really beautiful digital stamps on this site and a very big selection . I choose a 'Gone With The Wind' stamp for mum's card , she's a big fan not only of the film but anything to do with the American Civil War , she knows just about everything to do with it !  I used white cardstock as the base which i completely covered with a lovely burgundy coloured paper , then i used a silver miri card on top of that i used beautiful paper from from the 'Walk in Wonderland ' paper pack selection .  Right now for the main bit ... i painted the image using my 'Cosmic Shimmer ' paints and 'Twinkling H20's' , i cut this image out using the 'Spellbinders' 'Labels Ten' i layered this on top of some beautiful glitter card which i cut out using the same Spellbinders' but the next size up .  Behind this i fixed some lovely lace , top and bottom i used some gems . in the corners i used some bards and also some fancy heart shapes with i cut out using 'Pendants' in 'Spades' from 'Spellbinders' finished it off with some roses and ribbon which i attached under the card stock so you can tie the card up .. Very pleased with the result ..hope you like it as well.
